Derek Chang, MD

Clinical Educator Fellow

As an addiction and family physician and a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia, I have expertise in working with individuals experiencing health and social inequities. My main interests are addiction medicine, mental health, HIV/sexual health, transgender care, as well as travel and global health.

With an academic background in the humanities and medicine, I am passionate about stories, communication, teaching, and human connection. I look forward to learning and building new relationships with other members of the CHES community. I believe the Fellowship will equip me with necessary skills and experience to become a more effective educator and leader in health education.

While not working, I enjoy travelling, hiking, swimming, reading, meditating, learning languages, meeting new people, and spending quality time with family and friends.
